| Back to School Shopping |
-
Watch local department stores for sales. Look for tax free shopping days!
-
Shop early in the morning. Pack a snack for young children. Take breaks.
-
Set a defined budget. Many items are fifty percent off if purchased after Labor Day.
-
Shop on-line and avoid the crowds.

| Setting Routines |
-
About one week prior to school, get children to bed earlier by twenty minutes. Don't forget to WAKE up earlier as well. Practice your morning routine.
-
Choose clothes the night BEFORE. Use a six pocket cloth garment hanger to lay out each day's clothes--better yet, do this on Sunday evening.
-
Have ONE drop spot close to the door for backpacks, lunch boxes, etc.
-
For younger children, set up a routine chart that they can refer to in the morning with each responsibility. (Example: make bed, brush hair, eat, brush teeth).
-
Turn OFF the TV! It is a major distraction and studies show that, "elementary school children eat nearly twenty percent of their daily calories while watching television."
