Thoughts to Ponder...

"Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open."
            ~John Barrymore

"One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure."
           ~William Feather

Pack it Up!
We all overpack when going on a trip.  We load up the suitcase with too many outfits, lug it out the door, heave it into the car, and hoist it to the hotel.  Why?  Because we neglecet to plan.  Read on, to make packing for your vacation a "breeze."
1.  Start with a plan.  Find out the weather forecast for the time you will be traveling.
2.  Start with a standard packing list.  Think about what to pack, do not just throw items in the suitcase.
3.  Mix, match, and colorize.  Pack four standard pieces in neutral colors that not only compliment one another, but can be matched with other pieces several days later.
4.  Accessorize with color!  Use colorful belts, a unique hat, a patterned tie, or fancy scarf.
5.  Bundle wrap your pieces--visit Onebag.com to see how it is done.
6.  Pack practical shoes.  You do not need to pack a new pair of shoes for every outfit.
7.  Think convertible--clothing that is!  Take advatage of convertible or reversible vests, shirts, and pants that serve dual purposes!  Shorts during the day, pants at night--Voila!
Mini Projects
Mini Project #1--The Closet
Some days it is too hot to work outside, so stay cool inside and purge those unwanted winter clothes.  How many items did you NOT wear?  How outdated is the snowflake sweater?  Choose 10-20 items to donate and get rid of.  Think thin--thinning out your closet that is.

Mini Project #2--Kitchen Drawers
How many spatulas/wooden spoons/peelers do you really need?  Purchase drawer dividers and group the utensils accordingly: baking, vegetable/peeling, measuring, and lastly misc. gadgets.  It makes for a neat looking drawer and helps you find the right utensil quickly and easily.

Mini Project #3--Cook Books
250!  The most cookbooks I've counted in a client home.  Thin them out and make some room!  Tear our the USEABLE, REALISTIC, AND REASONABLE recipes.  I use a three ring binder with clear inserts and categorize the recipes according to season.  I have a Spring/Summer binder as well as a Fall/Winter Binder.  If I haven't made the recipe in a year, I throw it away.
