| Greetings! |
I have decided that this month is "Pick-a-Project" Month. What project has been lingering on your to do list? Adding photos to an album, organizing paperwork for taxes, purging your closets? Pick it. Do it. Be done with it.
This month we celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week (February 11-17th). Do something nice for your friends, family, coworkers, or a neighbor. It is a great way to reconnect, be thankful, and make someone else smile.
New this month is our mini-column, "Green Girl." Each month, we'll introduce helpful ideas and useful products that are earth-friendly.
Happy Organizing!

Pick-a-Project: Adding Value to Your Home |
|
1. Spruce up the outside. Paint the front door/ railings/shutters. Repair, prune, or pick up outdoor clutter.
2. Paint a room: Paint is an affordable way to transform the entire feeling of the room. It adds new personality and makes the room look fresh.
3. Garbage cans: Hide them behind shrubs, a side wall, a lattice wall, or store in the garage.
4. Landscape. Plant trees, shrubs, or perennials. Use decorative pots at the front door or hang plants from the front porch to add warmth. |
Archiving Your Files
|
Paperwork
Filing Cabinet:
1. Equals "prime real estate."
2. Remember Active files vs. Inactive files.
3. Keep only the current year of paperwork inside. Permanent files belong here as well and should be marked.
4. Pull out the previous year's documents. If you need to keep them, place the documents in files, in a banker's box.
3. How long do you keep documents? Consult www.irs.gov for a document retention schedule.
